释亮（一一五三～一二四二），号西山，俗姓税，梓州郪县（今四川三台）人。少嗜佛经，礼本县文才院僧普明为师。受具毕，往成都大圣善寺，择三学名流北面师事之。后往毗陵华藏，参礼涂毒策，策器之，与之偕移径山，多依堂中第一座遁庵宗演决所疑。宗演开法藏，亮与之偕。后出世建康府清真寺。晚住庆元府小灵隐寺。理宗淳祐二年卒，年九十。为南岳下十七世，遁庵宗演禅师法嗣。有宋觉心等编《西山亮禅师语录》，收入《续藏经》。事见本《语录》及所附居简撰《塔铭》。今录诗二十八首。
