译文
初雪后的五更之夜，黄花城中弥漫着寒光，积雪的峭壁上，栈道显得平滑了许多。无边的寒风也阻挠不了我披衣观景的兴致。
面对这茫茫雪色，不觉心中怅然，无限慨叹！什么时候才能天亮，天空中的晨星要消散了，广漠沙原上的大雁也已经起飞开始新的征程。
注释
点绛唇：词牌名，此调因江淹《咏美人春游》诗中有“白雪凝琼貌，明珠点绛唇”句而取名。四十一字。上阕四句，从第二句起用三仄韵；下阕五句，亦从第二句起用四仄韵。
黄花城：在今北京怀柔境内。纳兰扈驾东巡，此为必经之地。一说在五台山附近。
五夜：即五更。古代将一夜分为甲、乙、丙、丁、戊五段，故称。栈（zhàn）：栈道。于绝险之地架木而成的道路。
平沙雁：广漠沙原上之大雁。

康熙二十二年（1683年）九月，康熙帝奉太皇太后巡幸五台山，词人随从扈驾。途经黄花城，词人看到黄花城雪后将晓的景象，有感而发，作下此词。

点绛唇·黄花城早望鉴赏
这首词描绘了黄花城雪后将晓的景象，与《烷溪沙·姜女庙》等或为同时之作。词全用白描，但朴质中饶含韵致，清奇中极见情味。黄花城奇异的景观，作者无聊赖的心绪跃然纸上。
词的上片描写边塞地区凌晨的景色。“五夜”二句谓落了一夜的雪，五更天色欲明之时，雪已经堆得与栅栏相平了。“西风”二句紧扣上文，所以要“看”，是由于积雪的寒光，使人误以为天色已明；“披衣”是由于西风劲吹，寒气袭人。
下片“对此”二句，又与“看”字关联。看到这白茫茫的一片大雪，无边无际，不觉令人百感交集，不住叹息。“何时旦”句用提问表明此时尚未天明，刚才只是误以为天明罢了。最后二句，又是对“何时旦”这一问题的答覆。星光渐淡，大雁开始起飞，离天明也不远了。“平沙”当然是指“平于栈”的积雪。遣词造句都有着落，前后互相呼应，行文十分绵密。
通篇只描写景物，而寓情于景，以景抒情。词人用开阔的意象表现内心的情感，将环境的空旷凄凉映照在情感上，将大的环境空间叠加在深沉而复杂的小的情感上，给人呈现一种极具艺术感染力的表现方式。

纳兰性德（1655－1685），满洲人，字容若，号楞伽山人，清代最著名词人之一。其诗词“纳兰词”在清代以至整个中国词坛上都享有很高的声誉，在中国文学史上也占有光采夺目的一席。他生活于满汉融合时期，其贵族家庭兴衰具有关联于王朝国事的典型性。虽侍从帝王，却向往经历平淡。特殊的生活环境背景，加之个人的超逸才华，使其诗词创作呈现出独特的个性和鲜明的艺术风格。流传至今的《木兰花令·拟古决绝词》——“人生若只如初见，何事秋风悲画扇？等闲变却故人心，却道故人心易变。”富于意境，是其众多代表作之一。
