译文
天将亮时，幽闺中又听到婉转的莺鸣，微明的红纱窗里，印着正在西沉的月影。一阵好风频频地吹落残花，每一瓣落花都落地有声。帐外的那支残烛，还照着绣屏下的古筝。
绣被锦褥的呵护，使如玉的肌肤暖意融融，床边那住燃香，斜旋的轻烟在袅袅飘动。她的淡眉含羞地微皱着，仿佛在惋惜梦断时那份欢情。心里还在想着梦中的人，不知他在何处飘泊旅行？

隔帷：帷帐外。
绮屏筝：彩屏下的古筝。
锦茵：锦制的褥垫。眠玉：睡眠中的女子。玉，如玉的肌肤，此指女子。
斜袅：袅袅斜飘。烟轻：一作“轻烟”。
淡蛾：淡眉。不胜情：承受不了相思之情的煎熬。
处：一作“事”。云：代指行踪不定的游子。

临江仙·幽闺欲曙闻莺转鉴赏
起两句，写天将明的情景。屋外边传来阵阵婉转的莺啼。朦胧的月影散射窗间，幽闺已见微明的曙色，“闻莺转”，先从听觉角度着笔。最先使人从睡眠中醒来的外界刺激是声音，首句正是闺人清晨初醒时刹那间的感受。“红窗”句，再从视觉方面推进一层，仍只是从表象写来，尚未进入人的内心世界：‘“好风频谢落花声”，由景入情。词中抒情主人公已开始思想活动。落花之声，似有还无。然而在黎明的幽静环竞中，已被敏感的闺中人觉察到了，因有“风”故，所以测知，并唤起了某种微妙的感情。一“谢”字。已露闺怨的本意。隔着薄薄的帘帷，暗淡的残烛还照着挂在绣屏上的宝筝，而筝，早已不弹了，情人远去，无人来欣赏主人公的乐声。“隔帷”二句，运用暗笔。以屏筝作衬，侧面写出闺人的孤寂。“犹照”二字，笔意纤问。晚间睡前见此，清晨醒后仍见此触目感怀，而当日相对调筝的欢i隋境也可想而得之了。上片五句，表面纯是客观描述，然个中自有人在。这种手法，为《花间》所擅，情馀言外，“不止以浓艳见长也”（沈雄《柳塘词话》）。
下片换笔，描写闺人的情态和心理活功。“绣被”句，以秾艳之笔写凄凉之意，此亦唐五代词家绝诣。她睡在温暖的绣坡锦茵之中，静看着炷香的袅袅轻烟。在空中盘绕扩散。此情此景，何以为怀。“淡蛾羞敛不胜情”，她含着娇羞。半敛着淡画的双眉。在这孤寂的清晨，她想到了“暗思闲梦，何处逐云行？”方才那一场好梦，梦里相见的欢娱，醒后己再难寻觅。远方的游子，像那缥缈无定的行云，将要飘流远方。末两句，是全词点睛之笔。用意与冯延巳《蝶恋花》词“几日行云何处去”略同，而毛词写自己梦逐行云而行。亦不知其处，则更深一层了。陈廷焯《白雨斋词话》将这首词作为优秀艳词的例句举出，是有一定道理的。
