齐景公好弋，使烛邹主鸟而亡之。公怒，诏吏欲杀之。晏子曰：“烛邹有罪三，请数之以其罪杀之。”公曰：“可。”于是召而数之公前，曰：“烛邹，汝为吾君主鸟而亡之，是罪一也；使吾君以鸟之故杀人，是罪二也；使诸侯闻之以吾君重鸟而轻士，是罪三也。数烛邹罪已毕，请杀之。”公曰：“勿杀！寡人闻命矣。”
晏子谏杀烛邹译文及注释
译文
齐景公喜欢捕鸟。有一次，他捕到了一只漂亮的鸟，就命令烛邹管理鸟。不久，鸟逃跑了。齐景公气坏了，决定亲手杀掉他。晏子说：“烛邹有三条罪状，请让我列数他的罪状然后杀掉他。”于是召见烛邹，在齐景公面前列数他的罪行，说：“烛邹！你是我们君王的养鸟人，却让鸟逃跑了，这是第一条罪行；让我们君王为了一只鸟就要杀人，这是第二条罪行；让诸侯听到这件事，认为我们的君王看重鸟而轻视手下的人，这是第三条罪行。烛邹的罪已经列举结束，请杀死烛邹。”景公说：“不用处死了.我明白你的指教了。”

弋：（yì）带有绳子的箭，用来射鸟；系着绳的箭，此处名词作动词，指用弋射；此处指捕鸟
使（使烛邹主鸟）：命令，派遣（上级对下级）。
使（使吾君、使诸侯）：致使，让。
是：这。
故：原因，缘故。
景公：姜姓，吕氏，名杵臼。春秋后期齐国国君，齐灵公之子，齐庄公之弟。
好：爱好，喜爱。
烛邹：齐景公的一个臣仆。
主：掌管，主管，负责管理；也可翻译成“养”。
诏：诏书，皇上的命令或文告。这里指下令。
数（shǔ）：历数；列举
重：重视，以……为重。
轻：轻视，以……为轻。
闻命：接受教导。命：命令，这里指教导。
亡：丢失，逃跑，让……逃跑了，这里指让鸟逃走了。
以（以吾君重鸟）：认为。
以（以其罪而杀之）：按照。
以（以鸟之故）：因为。
士：商、西周、春秋时最低级的贵族阶层；读书人。
前：前面。
毕：结束。
而：连词表承接；连词表并列 。
汝：你。
谏：规劝
罪三：三条罪状。古代汉语中数词作定语常常放在中心词后。下文的“罪一”“罪二”用法相同。

晏子谏杀烛邹鉴赏
揭露当时的帝王统治者重鸟轻人的残暴本质，颂扬晏子的能言善辩与机智、正直的精神。
人与人交流需掌握适当技巧，在劝诫指正别人时也应做到趋利避害。
劝阻他人也要讲究方法，有时应学会避其锋芒，就会有事半功倍的效果。
晏子不是直接劝阻，而是间接委婉地提醒齐景公杀了烛邹会影响他的声誉，从而使他改变了主意（晏子的高明之处）。
