侍宴安乐公主新宅应制鉴赏
因为沈佺期伴随皇帝公主皇子多年，所以他的诗作多是应制诗，形式很华丽，被流放后风格却也发生过很大变化。沈佺期和宋之问等一帮诗人所作律诗使得这一体裁有了一些固定的格式，所以受到了后人很高的赞誉。
这首诗里用到了“鸣凤岭”和“饮龙川”两个地名。鸣凤岭指陕西凤翔县的岐山，因为传说中周朝兴起前这里有凤凰鸣叫而得名。在这首诗里用来说明公主新宅里假山的高大，凤凰也象征着公主的身份。饮龙川，指渭水，这里曾是文王最初兴起的地方。龙象征着皇帝的身份。诗里写了公主新府邸的大概样子，写了园子里的假山池塘，再写起居楼，写戏楼，里里外外到也算是写得周全，然后还写出皇帝亲临举行宴会时的场面，有礼有节，作者应该是位有急智的诗人了。尤其是他想到的比喻，既说明了公主府邸的豪华，又暗喻出皇家的气派和尊贵，唐中宗时期比较繁华的面貌也间接得到了表露，这样的应制诗，皇帝是一定会很满意的。但可惜诗里带出了的安乐公主的奢侈无度，无意中竟成为他日后被处决的罪证
“妆楼翠幌教春住，舞阁金铺借日悬”一句，很是生动，翠绿的帷帐垂下，把明媚的春色留了一段在妆镜前，戏台下的椅子上铺着黄色的垫子，金灿灿的，恍然间好像织进了太阳在上面。上面那句“山出尽如鸣凤岭，池成不让饮龙川”就没有这一句好，有点生拉硬拽，因为见过鸣凤岭和饮龙川的人到了唐代应该不多了。这首诗尽管辞藻上很华丽了，而且修辞也较为贴切，但却给人一种空洞的感觉。这也许是因为后人没见过那种场面，但也许是因为诗人急忙中只求说尽好听话而没有用更深意义的说辞。诗人为了支应皇帝，捡尽了漂亮的词汇，没想到这位公主后来怨恨这首作品写得太华丽了，他反而因此丢了性命。
这样一首煌煌气派的应制诗，竟枉送了沈佺期的性命，而跋扈虚伪的安乐公主最后也落得个死于非命的结果。

沈佺期，字云卿，相州内黄人。善属文，尤长七言之作。擢进士第。长安中，累迁通事舍人，预修《三教珠英》，转考功郎给事中。坐交张易之，流驩州。稍迁台州录事参军。神龙中，召见，拜起居郎，修文馆直学士，历中书舍人，太子少詹事。开元初卒。建安后，讫江左，诗律屡变，至沈约、庾信，以音韵相婉附，属对精密，及佺期与宋之问，尤加靡丽。回忌声病，约句准篇，如锦绣成文，学者宗之，号为沈宋。语曰：苏李居前，沈宋比肩。集十卷，今编诗三卷。
