译文
平生浪迹江湖难遇知音，只能心思倾注在词曲之上。人生不满百年还差些什么？潦倒一生只落得两鬓如霜。故人已逝有如跨鹤远游。多想像季札那样在徐君的坟前挂剑，像王子猷那样重弹亡弟所爱之琴，哀思无尽，只能携琴载酒将往日的深情追寻。
注释
凌波仙：曲牌名，常做吊词用。乔梦符：名吉，元曲作家。一生潦倒，寄情诗酒。
宫商：中国历代称宫、商角、变徵、徵、羽、变宫为七声。宫商即指音乐歌曲。
还急争甚：争，差之意。还差什么。
欲挂坟剑：据《史记·吴太伯世家》记载，季札知道好友徐君喜欢他的宝剑，但是当他准备把宝剑送给徐君时，却发现徐君已死，于是他“解其宝剑，系之徐君冢树而去”。
重听膝上琴：据刘义庆所著的《世说新语》记载，王献之死后，他的哥哥王徽之前去凭吊，他径直坐到灵床上，取出王献之喜爱的琴来弹奏，但是弦不谐调，想到人琴俱亡，再无处寻觅，不禁觉得更加悲痛。

凌波仙·吊乔梦符创作背景
钟嗣成撰写《录鬼簿》，对每位已故同辈曲家传记后均有首吊词，对其人其曲进行评价和追悼，《吊乔梦符》是其中的一首。乔梦符即乔吉，钟氏把他列入“方今已亡名公才人”之列，并为其创作了这首悼词。

凌波仙·吊乔梦符鉴赏
“平生湖海少知音”，乔梦符一生漂泊不遇、落魄江湖，不为世用的他在贫富差距巨大、人们普遍嫌贫爱富的社会里知音甚少。“几曲宫商大用心”，然而，“知音少”也使他得以更加专注于自己的创作，把绝世才华用在杂剧和散曲的撰写方面。
“百年光景还争甚？空赢得雪鬓侵，跨仙禽路绕云深。”人生短短百年光景，功名利禄皆为虚幻，根本不值得去争。争来争去，结果不过是赢得一世奔波和满头华发。还不如忘掉人世的宠辱穷通，寄情山水，在大自然的怀抱中享受生活的美妙。乔梦符身世坎坷，漂泊不遇，他曾在作品《折桂令·自述》中说自己“不应举江湖状元”。寄情诗酒，潦倒江湖并非是他看透了红尘世事，而是因为生不逢时，不为世用，无法在政治上有所作为。退居乡野，寄情山水，忘却功名利禄实为无奈之举。
乔梦符如骑鹤云游一般，一去不返，一转眼曲人同他竞已是阴阳两隔。“欲挂坟前剑”在此处表示作者希望在乔梦符坟前挂剑，以表明二人的友谊即使生死也不能改变。
“重听膝上琴”，是用《世说新语》中的典故，表达了作者希望能重新听到乔梦符的琴声，借琴声安慰自己痛苦的情思。可是斯人已逝，琴声自然也跟着消亡于世间。此处钟嗣成借用这个典故，主要是为了表现二人之间深厚的情谊。
斯人已逝，生者却依然无法面对阴阳两隔的现实。“漫携琴载酒相寻”，作者仍要带着死者生前弹奏过的琴和曾经最喜欢的酒，去寻找旧日的好友。据史料记载，钟嗣成和乔梦符的人生经历颇为相似，二人都是胸怀壮志却又不为世用的落魄布衣。末句既表达了钟嗣成对亡友的不舍，又暗示其也将走上乔曾经所走的道路。
这首散曲表达钟嗣成对已故友人的真挚感情。曲中既有对乔梦符一生坎坷遭遇的同情，又有对他所取得的成就的敬仰，其中也暗藏了一些作者自己对现实的失望和不满情绪。

钟嗣成（约1279——约1360），元代文学家，散曲家，字继先，号丑斋，大梁（今河南开封）人，寓居杭州。屡试不中。顺帝时编著《录鬼簿》二卷，有至顺元年（1330）自序，载元代杂剧、散曲作家小传和作品名目。所作杂剧今知有《章台柳》《钱神论》《蟠桃会》等七种，皆不传。所作散曲今存小令五十九首，套数一套。
