译文
将军你争伐南方，胆气豪迈无比，腰间的钢刀如同一泓秋水般明亮 。
风吹电闪之中旌旗飘，战鼓擂动，山河震动，日月高标。
将军神勇天生，犹如天上麒麟的后代，敌人如同洞里的蝼蚁一般，怎么能逃走呢？
等到天下太平，将军奉诏，班师回朝的时候，我（指嘉靖自己）亲自为将军解下战袍，为将军接风。
注释
毛伯温：字汝厉，吉水（属江西）人。明武宗正德年间进士。1539年（明世宗嘉靖十八年）派他讨伐安南（越南）莫登庸之乱。他出征一年多，兵不血刃，平定安南，因功被加封太子太保。
大将：指毛伯温。
横：横挎。秋水：形容刀剑如秋水般明亮闪光。雁翎刀：形状如大雁羽毛般的刀。
鼍鼓：用鳄鱼皮做成的战鼓。
旌旗：指挥作战的军旗。
麒麟：一种传说中的神兽，这里用比喻来称赞毛伯温的杰出才干。
蝼蚁：蝼蛄和蚂蚁，这里用来比喻安南叛军不堪一击，不成气候。
诏：皇帝的诏令。
朕：皇帝的自称。先生：指毛伯温。
送毛伯温鉴赏
这是毛伯温出征安南时，明世宗朱厚熜（cōng）为其写的壮行诗。首联写主将气概和出师时的装束，充满豪壮之气。颔联写鼓鸣旗展，以衬军威。前四句是对毛伯温和将士们的赞扬，称赞他们豪气凛然，撼动山河。颈联作敌我分析，言麒麟有种，蝼蚁难逃，用“蝼蚁”来蔑视叛军，比喻中有议论。尾联既表达了对毛伯温出征必胜的信心，更是对毛伯温的信任和鼓励。全诗写得明白晓畅，铿锵有力，气势非凡，反映出明世宗早期励精图治的精神面貌。

明世宗朱厚熜（1507年9月16日－1567年1月23日），汉族，明宪宗朱见深之孙，明孝宗朱祐樘之侄，兴献王朱祐杬之子，明武宗朱厚照的堂弟。明朝第十一位皇帝，1521年—1566年在位，年号嘉靖，后世称嘉靖帝。嘉靖帝是中国封建历史上最为独特的皇帝，也是明朝皇帝中最任性和倔强的一位，他为人非常聪明，尤其在书法和文辞修养都有不错的造诣。史书评价嘉靖帝为“中兴之主”，说他“有不世之奇谟六，无竞之伟烈四，而又有震世之独行五”。
