译文
今年的花开渐渐地就要过去了，明年花开应该更繁盛。来赏花的始终是少年人多，就怕少年易逝，我不再年轻。
告诫大家不要讨厌酒杯的酒多，如果醉了不如就在花荫下休息。大家看今天枝头上的花，早已经不是去年的那朵了。
注释
玉楼春：玉楼春，词牌名，又名“归朝欢令”“呈纤手”“春晓曲”“惜春容”“归朝欢令”等。以顾夐词《玉楼春·拂水双飞来去燕》为正体，双调五十六字，前后段各四句三仄韵。另有双调五十六字，前段四句三仄韵，后段四句两仄韵等。
花事：关于花的情事，这里指花开的事。垂垂：渐渐。
亸（duǒ）：下垂。
终古：谓自古以来一直是。
金罍（léi）：泛指酒器。
拚：豁出去。

这是一首感时伤春词，1905年（光绪三十一年）王国维作于海宁，王国维想起往事，踏青饮酒，感慨少年易逝。

玉楼春·今年花事垂垂过鉴赏
从字面上看，这首词全是白话，没什么难懂的地方。“亸”字似乎不大常见，但那是唐宋时代常用的字。这里是用“亸”字来形容花开很多压得枝条下垂的样子。
全词通俗易懂，感情显得直率。但其中不但包含着某种哲理，也包含着况蕙风所说的那种“郁勃久之，有不得已者出乎其中”的词人的固执。
“今年花事垂垂过，明岁花开应更亸”连用了两个“花”，口吻里充满了对花的喜爱和对春天的珍惜。一年之中只有一个春天，人的一生也只有一个花季。对花的热爱与珍惜也就是对人生的热爱与珍惜。凡是对人生爱之深，望之切的人，内心常常怀有一种恐惧感，深恐虚度了这只有一次的人生“看花终古少年多，只恐少年非属我。”
因此，在花季将尽之时才有了这样一副狂态“劝君莫厌尊罍大，醉倒且拚花底卧”。这种狂态，既不同于“会须一饮三百杯”的豪放之狂，也不同于“一日看尽洛城花”的浮躁之狂，倒有些近乎杜甫“且看欲尽花经眼，莫厌伤多酒入唇”的深悲隐痛之狂。为什么会这样，结尾两句作了解释“君看今日树头花，不是去年枝上朵。”这两句，令人联想到西方哲学家所说的，“没有人能两次踏进同一条河流”。
