译文
清清的碧波渺远，日光闪耀，柳条随风轻摆，青草茂盛。已经是垂暮老人了，却遇到春色，这种滋味有谁知道呢？竹帘都垂下来，庭院里一片安静，只有我一个人，无聊地看着一对燕子比翼双飞。
害怕寒冷没敢换上春衫，春日到郊外踏青的时候懒于和其他人相随。摆上春天地里的野菜和做熟的山里的野味，农家酿的酒可以随便些。人老了，不敢多喝，没有醉倒在花丛中，花儿没有说话，却笑话我痴。
注释
江城子：词牌名，又名“江神子”，原为单调，至苏轼始变为双调，共七十字，上下片都是七句五平韵。
癸酉：宋宁宗嘉定六年（1213年）。春社：祭名，祭祀土地，以祈丰收。周代用甲日，后多于立春后第五个戊日举行。
渺渺：远貌。晖晖：晴明貌。
依依：茂盛的样子。一说轻柔的样子。
离离：分披繁茂貌。
帘箔：用竹子或芦苇编成的方帘。
踏青：春日郊游。古代踏青节的日期，因地因时而异：一说正月初八，一说二月二，一说三月三。后世多以清明春游为“踏青”。
野蔌（sù）：野菜。山敬：野味。锻，同“肴”。
酿：此指酒。

江城子·癸酉春社创作背景
古代春社，一般在立春后的第五个戊日，其时正当春分前后，是古人春天祭祀社神（土地神）以祈求丰收的日子，又兼有乡邻会聚宴饮的性质，故颇隆重热烈。癸酉，为宋宁宗嘉定六年（1213年），此时词人王炎七十五岁。词人于社日有感而写下了这首词。

江城子·癸酉春社鉴赏
词的上片写“老大逢春”的情绪。开拍三句，写春社时节，风和日暖，春光明媚，清波悠远，杨柳依依，青草繁茂。这是芳春景色，生趣盎然，令人振奋。然而词人却恰恰相反，精神并不蓣奋，甚至情绪消沉。原因是：“老大逢春，情绪有谁知。”“逢春”是触媒，“老大”才是根源。此时的词人已是古稀老人，青春已被岁月消磨殆尽，生机活力正被衰老蚕食着，“老大”落寞伤感的情绪，当然只有自己知道，别人是无法理解的。心境如此，所处的环境又是“竹箔四垂，庭院静，次独处，燕双飞”。竹帘四垂，言与外界隔绝，很少有人来往，故庭院里十分寂静。后两句意从五代翁宏诗“落花人独立，微雨燕双飞”（《宫词》）化出，言词人独处其间，只有那忙着筑巢的春燕双双飞出飞进。这里情中写景，以景衬情。用双飞之燕衬独处之人，足见其孤独寂寞；以动衬静，愈见境静，映衬出其心境之落寞凄凉。
下片写人的活动。换头“怯寒未敢试春衣”与上片“老大逢春”相应，丝丝人扣：因“老大”而“怯寒”；因“逢春”尚寒而“未敢试春衣”。这里既写出了年届七十、年迈体衰之老人对节候的切身感受，也暗寓着主人公的情绪低落，真实入情。正因为如此，在春社这个游览踏青的大好时节，这位老人却“踏青时，懒追随”。一个“懒”字，刻画出老人力不从心、意懒心灰的情态和无可奈何的心情。那么，老人来打发这个“家家扶得醉人归”的春社节日的作法是：“野蔌山杀，村酿可从宜”。即是说，只要有点山野风味的酒食就可以了。这里作者强调的是：蔌以“野”、骰以“山”、酿（酒）以“村”为宜。用字准确，既有聊遣愁怀的一面，也有追求雅趣的一面，疏淡别致。煞拍三句，以描述人的心态作结：“不向花边拚一醉，花不语，笑人痴”。已经有了野蔌、山骰、村酒，老人本想”酩酊酬佳节”，独坐“花边拚醉”，只是担心“花不语，笑人痴”，而只好作罢。可见作者人老心不老，犹想学少年的情怀。着直表心迹，振起全篇。
这首词体现词人“惟婉转妩媚为善”的词作主张，景中见情，情中写景，情景交融。写出“老大逢春”的种种心态和微妙的“情绪”，真实生动而富有情趣。在遣词用字上颇具匠心。如开篇连用“渺渺”、“晖晖”、“依依”、“离离”四个叠字句，渲染春光；“野”、“山”、“村”字都移易不得，具见精神。又有频用前人的诗句，化繁为简，意蕴不减。结拍用拟人手法，化无情为有情，妙趣横生，余味隽永。

王炎（1137——1218）字晦叔，一字晦仲，号双溪，婺源（今属江西）人。一生著述甚富，有《读易笔记》、《尚书小传》、《礼记解》、《论 语解》、《孝圣解》、《老子解》、《春秋衍义》、《象数稽疑》、《禹贡辨》等，《全宋词》第 三册录其词五十二首。事迹见胡升《王大监传》（《新安文献志》卷六九）、 《宋史翼》卷二四，参《南宋馆阁续 录》卷八、九。
