摆脱尘劳事不寻常，须下力气大干一场。
不经过彻骨寒冷，哪有梅花扑鼻芳香。
注释
尘劳：尘念劳心。迥（jiǒng）脱：远离，指超脱。
紧把：紧紧握住。
上堂开示颂鉴赏
这是两句借梅花傲雪迎霜、凌寒独放的性格，勉励人克服困难、立志成就事业的格言诗。关于梅花，宋范成大《梅谱·前序》说：“梅，天下之尤物，无问智愚贤不肖，莫敢有异议。”“尤物”，这里指特别珍异的花卉，也就是说，梅是一种品质高出群芳的植物。可见，作者用梅花来象征一种精神，这象征本身已包含某种哲理；倘再就其经受的“彻骨寒”与最终获得的“扑鼻香”，予以因果上的提示，则作为喻体的“梅花”，更寄寓着另一层深刻的道理。作者是佛门禅宗的一代高僧，他借此诗偈，表达对坚志修行得成果的决心，说出了人对待一切困难所应采取的正确态度。这也是这两句诗极为有名，屡屡被人引用，从禅宗诗偈成为世俗名言的主要原因。

黄櫱禅师（？-855）与黄檗（音bò）、黄蘖指的同一人。身长七尺，相貌壮严，额间隆起如珠；声音朗润，意志街澹，聪慧利达，精通内学，广修夕阵，时人称之为黄檗希运。黄櫱禅师是唐时福建福清僧人，幼年在本州黄檗山出家。百丈法嗣亦参证于南泉，后于洪州黄檗山大弘禅法，有《传心法要》《宛陵录》等传世，堪为一代宗门大匠。
