译文
在秋风秋雨中，桐叶、槿花纷纷凋零飘落，一片寂寥冷清景象。
在闲适自得中，生出早秋的意境。
故人远别，令我心中无乐。
不要说我没有送你到门外，我心已跟随你远去。
知心之人何必求多，只要是心意想通。情趣相投即可。
你一去，剩下我独自一人，即使身在这繁华的长安城，顿觉它是空荡荡的。
注释
零落：指脱落。
萧条：指寂寥冷清的样子。
槿（jǐn）：木槿，落叶灌木，夏秋开花，朝开夕凋。
幽闲：闲适自得。
故人：旧交，老朋友。
中怀：心中。
悰（cóng）：欢乐，乐趣。
勿云：不要说。
青门：长安城的东南门，本名灞城门，因其门色青，故俗呼为“青门”。
坐觉：遂觉，顿觉。

别元九后咏所怀创作背景
《别元九后咏所怀》是唐代诗人白居易元和元年（806年）送别元稹之后写的，秋季甫至，秋意却浓，诗人看到凋零的桐叶、衰败的槿花，悠然飘落在秋风秋雨之中，目光所及皆为萧瑟之景，伤秋之情油然而生，想到自己于长安再无心意相通之人的孤寂落寞之情。
别元九后咏所怀鉴赏
诗歌开篇“零落桐叶雨，萧条槿花风”，以写景起兴，既奠定了全诗伤感悲凉的感情基调又暗中点明与友人分别的时间。秋季甫至，秋意却浓，诗人看到凋零的桐叶、衰败的槿花，悠然飘落在秋风秋雨之中，目光所及皆为萧瑟之景，伤秋之情油然而生。此情此景又让诗人想起与友人离别时的场景，心中愈发感伤。
“况与故人别，中怀正无”一句将诗人的伤秋之情与和友人分别之后的落寞之情自然地连接起来。诗人没有写出与友人分别的具体情境，以虚笔“勿云不相送，心到青门东”写分别之实事，诗人假设友人问自己“为何不相送？”“心到青门东”则是诗人的回答，不要说我没有送你离开，我的心已经随你远去，倘若相送，又如何忍心与你分别？寥寥数笔，勾勒出二人离别之时的大致情景，又给读者留下无数想象的空间。
吟咏至此，诗人心中伤秋怀远的复杂心情无限放大，心中的抑郁之情不吐不快，进而抒发出此篇诗作中的情感最强音：“相知岂在多，但问同不同。同心一人去，坐觉长安空。”最后二旬又再次点明白居易与元稹交情之深，与中间四句遥相呼应，使得全诗浑然一体。全诗在诗人情感最高点戛然而止，余音缭绕而又耐人寻味。最后四旬言简意赅，却富含哲理，引起了无数读者的共鸣：不求朋友成群，但求知己一人，外面的世界再喧嚣，知心人不在，也如空城般孤寂。
这首诗融写景、叙事、抒情于一体，情景交融，用笔虚实相生，实处描写景物，虚处勾勒景象，全诗如行云流水，毫无生涩之感。诗人在诗中的留白更给读者留下了无数想象空间。

白居易（772年－846年），字乐天，号香山居士，又号醉吟先生，祖籍太原，到其曾祖父时迁居下邽，生于河南新郑。是唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，唐代三大诗人之一。白居易与元稹共同倡导新乐府运动，世称“元白”，与刘禹锡并称“刘白”。白居易的诗歌题材广泛，形式多样，语言平易通俗，有“诗魔”和“诗王”之称。官至翰林学士、左赞善大夫。公元846年，白居易在洛阳逝世，葬于香山。有《白氏长庆集》传世，代表诗作有《长恨歌》、《卖炭翁》、《琵琶行》等。
