夏仁虎（1874～1963），南京人，字蔚如，号啸庵、枝巢、枝翁、枝巢子、枝巢盲叟等。他兄弟五人，即夏仁溥、夏仁澍、夏仁析、夏仁虎、夏仁师，排行老四，乡人成其为“夏四先生”。清朝戊戌变法那年（1898年），25岁的夏仁虎以拔贡身份到北京参加殿试朝考，成绩优秀，遂定居北京，开始了他整整30年的官宦生涯。新中国成立后，他成为中央文史馆馆员。晚年的夏仁虎尽管双目失明，仍然笔耕不辍，直到1963年在北京逝世，享年90岁。夏仁虎和妻子张玉贞有八子一女，其中第六子夏承楹的妻子便是伟大的女性作家林海音。
