姜忠奎，字叔明，号韡斋，又号星烂，是一位著名的经学家、语言文字学家、爱国学者。姜忠奎1916年在北京师从著名经学家、史学家、《新之史》的作者柯劭忞先生；1918年毕业于北京大学中国文学系；1926年出任河南中州大学教授；1932年任北京大学教授；同年又任山东大学教授。日军侵占青岛后， 他辞去教授职务，回到姜家疃老家。1940年2月，出任北京大学教授和国学书院教授。在这期间，日伪政府曾多次让他出任伪职，均遭到拒绝。他那爱国抗日之志，引起了日军宪兵队的憎恨，于1945年2月18日被日本宪兵队抓走，不久就惨遭杀害，是年48岁。
