《刘墉行书送蔡明远叙轴》鉴赏
原文
既奉命于秦淮之上，又随我于邗沟之东，追攀不疲，以至邵伯南埭，始终之际，良有可称。送蔡明远叙。乙未冬日临。石菴居士。
赏析
此幅书于“乙未冬日”，即1775年（乾隆四十年），时年刘墉57岁。此书运笔圆劲，古朴飘逸，方圆兼备，苍润互见。清徐珂《清稗类钞》评刘墉书：“自入词馆以迄登台阁，体格屡变，神妙莫测。其少年时为赵体，珠圆玉润，美如簪花。中年以后，笔力雄健，局势堂皇。迨入台阁，则炫烂归于平淡，而臻炉火纯青之境矣。”此幅即反映了刘墉中年时的书法风格。

刘墉（1719～1804），字崇如，号石庵，另有青原、香岩、东武、穆庵、溟华、日观峰道人等字号，清代书画家、政治家。山东省高密县逄戈庄人（原属诸城），祖籍江苏徐州丰县。乾隆十六年（1751年）进士，刘统勋子。官至内阁大学士，为官清廉，有乃父之风。刘墉是乾隆十六年的进士，做过吏部尚书，体仁阁大学士。工书，尤长小楷，传世书法作品以行书为多。嘉庆九年十二月二十五日卒于京。谥文清。
