译文
三次做出入皇宫的官，四次做到九卿高官，试问书生，你有什么屈辱之处？又有什么荣耀和美名？朝中那些亲近宠贵的金、张之流，他们的后代能够身服绮儒纨袴，冠戴貂尾缨饰，还不是由于他们会“笃敬寤主”，干些拍马逢迎的勾当吗？而书生你既没有汗马功劳、又不会写些歌功颂德的辞赋献给皇帝，也不会用儒家经书去走送官的捷径。所以没有他们显贵。
既然这样，要像汉代蜀人严君平那样，在成都开个问卦店铺，自甘寂寞，或者像西汉末年的隐士郑子真那样在山谷里种田，火炭有不能再燃的时候，有可以取暖的时候，人有显贵与轻贱之分，不如学习、传授佛学，无所牵挂、无所名利。
注释
行香子：词牌名。
三入承明：谓三次做出入皇宫的官。承明：指承明庐，汉代是在皇宫任职官员的值班歇宿之处。
四至九卿：谓四次做到九卿高官。九卿：汉代仅次于三公（唐宋时沿袭东汉时的太尉.、司徒、司空为“三公”的称谓）的高级官员。秦汉通常以奉常（太常）、郎中令（光禄勋）、卫尉、太仆、廷尉、典客（大鸿护）、宗正、治粟内史（大司农）、少府为九卿，实即中央各行政机关的总称。魏晋以后，设尚书分主各部行政，九卿专掌一部分事务，职任较轻。
问书生，何辱何荣：意谓问询儒生，什么是耻辱，什么是光荣。书生：这里指苏轼。
金张七叶：金：指.汉武帝的亲信贵臣金日磾和他的子孙后辈。叶：世、代。七叶：即七世。
纨绮貂缨：朝廷贵臣的穿戴服饰，这里指显贵大臣。纨绮（qǐ）：指精美的丝织品。貂：貂尾，冠饰。缨：冠带。
无汗马事：没有汗马功劳，即未立战功。
献赋：古代辞赋家把自己所作的赋颂呈献皇帝，求得赏识。不明经：不明晓儒家的经书。“明经”是古代选官考试的一种科目。
成都卜肆：成都：今四川成都市。卜肆：算卦占卜者的店铺。
寂寞君平：指西汉末年蜀人严君平（名严尊），他自甘寂寞以贫贱清静守。
郑子真：即郑朴，字子真，西汉末年隐士。
岩谷：岩洞山谷。
寒灰炙手：寒灰：指无火星已完全不能再燃的死灰，喻无法富贵的人。炙手：烘手取暖，喻权势高贵的人；通常以“炙手可热”形容权贵气焰之盛，谓热得烫手。
除竺乾学：竺乾：指佛，宋代傅斡《注坡词》注：“佛学本自西竺乾天。”句谓从佛学教义中学取看破红尘。除：除授。
得无念，得无名：谓学习佛学教义获得参透世俗，心中空寂无尘，无所牵挂、无所名利。

宋哲宗绍圣元年（1094年），太皇太后高氏已经去世，宋哲宗行“绍述”恢复宋神宗新法。至此，苏轼已经三次进入朝廷做皇帝的近侍官，但这一年，苏轼失去端明殿学士、翰林侍读学士两个官职，已经过了八年太平生活的苏轼闻到一股不安的气息，于是写下该词，自问“书生何辱何荣”。

行香子·寓意鉴赏
从词题“寓意”来看，这是篇首自我嘲弄、自我哀怨、自我比况并自我排遣的作品。而在自我排解中，似乎还表现出一种自信、自豪，并颇带一点傲骨的韵致。“三人承明。四至九卿。问书生、何辱何荣”？苏轼一生至此已三次进人朝廷作皇帝的近侍之官了。宋哲宗元祐元年（1086年）自登州太守以礼部郎中召回注京，迁中书舍人、任翰林学士知制浩兼侍读；宋哲宗元祐六年（1091年）在杭州太守任时，又被改翰林学士承旨召还，除兼侍读；宋哲宗元祐七年（1092年）八月，又以兵部尚书兼差充南郊卤簿使自扬州召还，导驾景灵宫，迁端明殿学士兼翰林侍读学士，守礼部尚书。所以称“三人承明”。至宋哲宗元祐八年（1093年）八月，苏轼方以端明殿学士兼翰林侍读学士出知定州。以上四次入朝出朝的这些官职，皆属“九卿”之位，故又可称为“四至九卿”。做了这么大的官，又频频出人朝廷，试问“书生”（苏轼自指），你有什么屈辱之处？又有什么荣耀和美名？真是自问得有理，也自问得无愧。如今，苏轼又忽被落两“学士”职贬知英州，一切都落得干干净净，这究竟是为了什么？“金张七叶，纨绮貂缨。无汗马事，不献赋，不明经。”苏轼经过剖心自思，终于找到了个中秘密：朝中那些“亲近宠贵，比于外戚”的金、张之氏，他们能够世世代代身服绮儒纨袴，冠戴貂尾缨饰，还不是由于他们会“笃敬寤主”、干些拍马逢迎的勾当吗？而自己呢？相较之下，却是“拙于谋身，锐于报国”，“赋性刚拙，议论不随”，“直须谈笑于死生之际”，“祸福得丧付与造物”；而自己在武事上又没有什么汗马功劳、不会写些歌功颂德的辞赋献给皇帝，也不会用儒家经书去走送官的捷径。那真是活该如此，自作自受。这种自责自谴，如果说是自谦自卑，还不如说是苏轼刚强正直、嫉恶怨愤的品性表现。
下片写自己的退隐志向。要像汉代蜀人严君平那样，在成都开个问卦店铺，自甘寂寞；或者像西汉末年的隐士郑子真那样“宕谷躬耕”，即使有炙手可热的权贵逼他出山，也决不屈从。词末苏轼倍发感慨：“寒灰炙手，人重人轻”，世间充满了令人沮丧的贫富贵贱的罪恶差别，应该像《鹤叹》寓言诗中的那只孤傲仙鹤一样：“投以饼饵视若无，戛然长鸣乃下趋！”决然抛却尘世，去做一个“除竺乾学，得无念，得无名”的真正自我解放、无所牵挂、心中空寂无尘的人。
全词豪气贯注，瘦硬隽拔，字锻句谏，逆挽顿挫，对比鲜明，波澜壮阔。前后呼应，结构严谨。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
