薛据，盛唐诗坛著名诗人，杜甫、王维诗中作“薛璩”，其兄薛播、薛揔，名皆从手旁，知当以薛据为正，“璩”或为后世板划之误。唐河东宝鼎（今山西万荣县）人。薛氏为河东望族，《旧唐书》·薛播传》云薛播，薛据兄弟七人于开元、天宝间“并举进士，连中科名。衣冠荣之”。 薛据排行第三，所以当时称他作薛三。有的书中载薛据为荆南人（一说河中宝鼎人）。据《旧唐书·薛播传》及当时韩愈，常袬等所记，皆云为河东人，岑参有《进薛播擢第归河东》，可知薛据确为河东人。薛据晚岁客居荆州，杜甫诗数及之，如《别崔潩因寄薛据孟云卿》：“荆州过薛孟，为报欲论诗。”有人以薛据为荆南人，很可能是读杜甫诗而致误。
