何处访吴画？普门与开元。
译文：到哪儿去寻访吴道子的画？普门和开元两座寺院的墙壁。
注释：普门、开元：即普门寺和开元寺，都在凤翔。吴道子在两寺画有佛像，王维在开元寺画有墨竹。
开元有东塔，摩诘留手痕。
译文：开元寺有东塔，留存着王维绘画的手迹。
注释：手痕：手迹，即谓开元寺的东塔上有王维的画。
吾观画品中，莫如二子尊。
译文：我看古往今来的画家，没有谁比得上这两位先生尊贵的品级。
注释：画品：画的品格、品评。
道子实雄放，浩如海波翻。
译文：道子的画风实在雄奇奔放，浩浩荡荡如同海浪翻滚。
注释：雄放：奔放，豪放。
当其下手风雨快，笔所未到气已吞。
译文：当他下笔时灵感像疾风骤雨，画笔未到处气势已先夺人。
亭亭双林间，彩晕扶桑暾。
译文：在那高高的两棵娑罗树间，灿烂的朝阳从扶桑冉冉东升。
注释：亭亭：高高耸立。双林：吴道子画中所画的两株娑罗树。彩晕：五彩光华。扶桑：古代神话中的日出之处。暾：太阳升起。
中有至人谈寂灭，悟者悲涕迷者手自扪。
译文：画中间有至高无上的佛祖，在讲说寂灭的教义是超脱死生。觉悟的信徒全都在悲哀哭泣，也有人手扪胸膛表示理解不深。
注释：至人：至高无上的人，指释迦牟尼佛。寂灭：佛家语，“涅槃”的意译，意谓超脱世间入于不生不灭之境。手自扪：以手捶胸，这是形容听者未解寂灭之意时的状态。
蛮君鬼伯千万万，相排竞进头如鼋。
译文：天竺的众多君长和千千万鬼王，互相拥挤争听佛法，像鼋一样拼命把头伸。
注释：蛮君：天竺国的君王。鼋：大鳖，背青黄色，头有疙瘩，能伸缩，此处形容信徒众头攒聚、伸长。
摩诘本诗老，佩芷袭芳荪。
译文：摩诘本是一位可敬的老诗人，如佩香草诗风秀美芳芬。
注释：佩芷袭芳荪：这是以美人佩带香草的形象来形容王维的诗风。佩、袭，穿戴。芷、荪，香草。
今观此壁画，亦若其诗清且敦。
译文：现在观看他的壁画，也像诗品一样朴美清淳。
注释：清且敦：风格清秀而又浑朴。
祇园弟子尽鹤骨，心如死灰不复温。
译文：画中的祇园弟子个个清瘦如仙鹤，内心枯寂宛若死灰不会再温。
注释：祇园弟子：佛徒。鹤骨：形容佛徒的清瘦。心如死灰：此处指佛门弟子六根清净断绝尘念，内心孤寂。
门前两丛竹，雪节贯霜根。
译文：门前的两丛竹子，霜雪般清劲竹节贯连着竹根。
注释：雪节、霜根：形容竹子内在的清劲品格，不单指其颜色。
交柯乱叶动无数，一一皆可寻其源。
译文：枝干交错，繁乱的叶子像在摇动，一一都能找到根源和经脉。
注释：交柯：枝叶交叉。
吴生虽妙绝，犹以画工论。
译文：吴先生的画虽然绝妙，还只能看作杰出的画工技艺超迈。
注释：画工：指重视艺术技巧。
摩诘得之以象外，有如仙翮谢笼樊。
译文：摩诘得到了物象内在的精神，就如仙鸟飞离樊笼超脱于形迹以外。
注释：象外：外部形象之外，指内在的精神实质，脱略形迹的悠远情韵。翮，鸟翎的茎，即指鸟。谢，离开。笼樊，鸟笼。
吾观二子皆神俊，又于维也敛衽无间言。
译文：我认为两人的画全都气势飞扬寓于神采，对于王维我尤其崇敬说不出一句异议的话来。
注释：神俊：精神饱满，气势飞扬。敛衽：整理衣襟，是表示尊敬的做法。无间言：完全同意。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
