长淮望断，关塞莽然平。征尘暗，霜风劲，悄边声。黯销凝。追想当年事，殆天数，非人力，洙泗上，弦歌地，亦膻腥。隔水毡乡，落日牛羊下，区脱纵横。看名王宵猎，骑火一川明。笳鼓悲鸣。遣人惊。
译文：伫立漫长的淮河岸边极目望远，关塞上的野草丛茂是平阔的荒原。北伐的征尘已暗淡，寒冷的秋风在劲吹，边塞上的静寂悄然。我凝神伫望，心情黯淡。追想当年的中原的沦陷，恐怕是天意运数，并非人力可扭转；在孔门弟子求学的洙水和泗水边，在弦歌交秦的礼乐之邦，也已变成膻腥一片。隔河相望是敌军的毡帐，黄昏落日进牛羊返回圈栏，纵横布置了敌军的前哨据点。看金兵将令夜间出猎，骑兵手持火把照亮整片平川，胡笳鼓角发出悲壮的声音，令人胆战心寒。
注释：长淮：指淮河。关塞莽然平：草木茂盛，齐及关塞。谓边备松驰。莽然，草木茂盛貌。黯销凝：感伤出神之状。黯，精神颓丧貌。当年事：指靖康二年（1127年）中原沧陷的靖康之变。殆：似乎是。洙、泗：鲁国二水名，流经曲阜（春秋时鲁国国都），孔子曾在此讲学。弦歌地：指礼乐文化之邦。膻，腥臊气。毡乡：指金国。北方少数民族住在毡帐里，故称为毡乡。落日牛羊下：定望中所见金人生活区的晚景。区脱纵横：土堡很多。区脱，匈奴语称边境屯戍或守望之处。“名王”二句：写敌军威势。名王：此指故方将帅。宵猎：夜间打猎。骑火：举者火把的马队。
念腰间箭，匣中剑，空埃蠹，竟何成。时易失，心徒壮，岁将零。渺神京。干羽方怀远，静烽燧，且休兵。冠盖使，纷驰骛，若为情。闻道中原遗老，常南望、翠葆霓旌。使行人到此，忠愤气填膺。有泪如倾。
译文：想我腰间弓箭，匣中宝剑，空自遭了虫尘埃的侵蚀和污染，满怀壮志竟不得施展。时机轻易流失，壮心徒自雄健，刚暮将残。光复汴京的希望更加渺远。朝廷正推行礼乐以怀柔靖远，边境烽烟宁静，敌我暂且休兵。冠服乘车的使者，纷纷地奔驰匆匆，实在让人羞愧难以为情。传说留下中原的父老，常常盼望朝廷，盼望皇帝仪仗，翠盖车队彩旗蔽空，使得行人来到此地，一腔忠愤，怒气填膺，热泪倾洒前胸。
注释：埃蠹：尘掩虫蛀。零：尽。渺神京：收复京更为渺茫。神京，指北宋都诚汴京。干羽方怀远：用文德以怀柔远人，谓朝廷正在向敌人求和。干羽，干盾和翟羽，都是舞蹈乐具。静烽燧：边境上平静无战争。烽燧，即烽烟。“冠盖”三句：冠盖：冠服求和的使者。驰鹜：奔走忙碌，往来不绝。若为情：何以为情，犹太今之“怎么好意思”。翠葆霓旌：指皇帝的仪仗。翠葆，以翠鸟羽毛为饰的车盖。霓旌，像虹霓似的彩色旌旗。填膺：塞满胸怀。

张孝祥（1132年－1169年），字安国，号于湖居士，汉族，简州（今属四川）人，生于明州鄞县。宋朝词人。著有《于湖集》40卷、《于湖词》1卷。其才思敏捷，词豪放爽朗，风格与苏轼相近，孝祥“尝慕东坡，每作为诗文，必问门人曰：‘比东坡如何？’”
