百花洲上新台，檐吻云平，图画天开。鹏俯沧溟，蜃横城市，鳌驾蓬莱，学捧心山颦翠色，怅悬头土湿腥苔。悼古兴怀，休近阑干，万丈尘埃。
译文：登上姑苏台，举目四望，沙洲上百花盛开。檐角与云齐平,画栋倒映长空。好比大鹏俯视海洋，世鳌驼着蓬莱仙山，现出一片海市蜃楼。远山青翠，就像西施捧心后的蛾眉，惆怅当年伍子胥吴门悬头，血酒乡土腥苔片片。吊古伤今，莫靠近栏干，台下有万丈尘埃。
注释：折桂令：曲牌名。又称《蟾宫曲》、《天香引》、《秋风第一枝》、《步蟾宫》等。兼作小令、套曲。檐吻云平：言飞檐画栋，高与云平。图画天开：风景如画，自然展现在人们的面前。鹏俯：像大鹏之俯瞰海洋。沧溟，海水弥漫的样子。蜃横城市：像“蜃景”横理成城市一样。“蜃景”是光线经过不同的密度层，把远处的景物折射在空中或地面所成的奇异幻景。学捧心山颦翠色：此句把山拟人化，言山之苍翠是在学习美人的眉黛。悬头：伍子胥被吴王赐死，死前对舍人说，将其头悬于吴东门之上，以观越寇之入灭吴万丈尘埃：指宦海险恶。

乔吉(1280?～1345) 元代杂剧家、散曲作家。一称乔吉甫，字梦符，号笙鹤翁，又号惺惺道人。太原人，流寓杭州。钟嗣成在《录鬼簿》中说他“美姿容，善词章，以威严自饬，人敬畏之”，又作吊词云：“平生湖海少知音，几曲宫商大用心。百年光景还争甚？空赢得，雪鬓侵，跨仙禽，路绕云深。”从中大略可见他的为人。剧作存目十一，有《杜牧之诗酒扬州梦》、《李太白匹配金钱记》、《玉箫女两世姻缘》三种传世。
