秋风凄切伤离，行客未归时。塞外草先衰，江南雁到迟。
译文：凄凄切切的秋风已吹起，天气转凉了，远游的人儿还没有归来，不禁叫人牵肠挂肚，增添离别的感伤。现在塞外应该是衰草遍野，满目枯黄了吧，而飞往江南的北雁还迟迟未到。
注释：行客：指出行、客居的人。古人常因求学、经商或赴职所而别离故土，客居他乡。塞外：边塞之外，泛指中国北边地区。雁：此处暗喻行客书信，一语双关。
芙蓉凋嫩脸，杨柳堕新眉。摇落使人悲，断肠谁得知。
译文：嫩脸已经变衰如芙蓉般凋谢，新眉也像杨柳的叶子失去了往日的颜色。她见到秋天里众芳摇落的情景，睹物思人，心中充满了悲伤，可是那柔肠寸断的离愁别情，又有谁知道呢？
注释：芙蓉：荷花的别称。凋，一作“雕”。脸，一作“叶”。杨柳，指柳叶。摇落：凋残，零落。肠断：形容极度思念或悲痛。

温庭筠（约812—866）唐代诗人、词人。本名岐，字飞卿，太原祁（今山西祁县东南）人。富有天才，文思敏捷，每入试，押官韵，八叉手而成八韵，所以也有“温八叉”之称。然恃才不羁，又好讥刺权贵，多犯忌讳，取憎于时，故屡举进士不第，长被贬抑，终生不得志。官终国子助教。精通音律。工诗，与李商隐齐名，时称“温李”。其诗辞藻华丽，秾艳精致，内容多写闺情。其词艺术成就在晚唐诸词人之上，为“花间派”首要词人，对词的发展影响较大。在词史上，与韦庄齐名，并称“温韦”。存词七十余首。后人辑有《温飞卿集》及《金奁集》。
