时宿于逍遥堂，追感前约，为二小诗记之。
译文：辙幼从子瞻读书，未尝一日相舍。既仕，将宦游四方，读韦苏州诗至“安知风雨夜，复此对床眠”，恻然感之，乃相约早退，为闲居之乐。故子瞻始为凤翔幕府，留诗为别曰：“夜雨何时听萧瑟？”其后子瞻通守余杭，复移守胶西，而辙滞留于淮阳、济南，不见者七年。熙宁十年二月，始复会于澶濮之间，相从来徐留百余日。
逍遥堂后千寻木，长送中宵风雨声。
译文：逍遥堂后千丈高的幽森古木，半夜里远方送来萧萧的风雨声。
注释：故子瞻始为凤翔幕府，留诗为别曰：“夜雨何时听萧瑟？”其后子瞻通守余杭，复移守胶西，而辙滞(zhì)留于淮阳、济南，不见者七年。熙宁十年二月，始复会于澶(chán)濮(pú)之间，相从来徐留百余日。时宿于逍遥堂，追感前约，为二小诗记之。“夜雨”句：此句见苏轼《辛丑十一月十九日既与子由别于郑州西门之外马上赋诗一篇寄之》。宦游：是古代士人为谋取一官半职，离开家乡拜谒权贵、广交朋友的旅游。恻然：哀怜的样子，悲伤的样子。余杭：此指杭州。胶西：今山东胶县，宋代属密州（治所在今山东诸城），此指密州。滞留：谓有才德的人长久不得官职或不得升迁。淮阳：即陈州，治所在今河南淮阳。济南：即齐州，治所在今山东济南。澶：澶州，今河南濮阳。濮：濮州，今山东鄄城北。
误喜对床寻旧约，不知漂泊在彭城。
译文：误以为实现了对床共听夜雨的盟约而高兴，暂时忘怀了眼前不过是漂泊在彭城。
注释：千寻：原本作“千章”，据别本改。一寻为八尺，千寻形容树木高大。中宵：夜晚。
秋来东阁凉如水，客去山公醉似泥。
译文：秋天官舍里夜凉似水，我离去后你将像山公烂醉如泥。
注释：对床：两人对床而卧。彭城：即今江苏徐州。
困卧北窗呼不起，风吹松竹雨凄凄。
译文：困卧在北窗喊也喊不醒，只听得窗外风吹松竹寒雨凄凄。
注释：东阁：一作“官阁”。客去：一作“别后”。客，作者自指。山公醉似泥：化用山简事，《晋书·山简传》载，山简为襄阳太守时，“每出嬉游，多之（习家）池上，置酒辄醉，名之曰高阳池。时有儿童歌曰：‘山公出何许，往至高阳池。日夕倒载归，酩酊无所知。’”山公，指苏轼。

苏辙（1039—1112年），字子由，汉族，眉州眉山（今属四川）人。嘉祐二年（1057）与其兄苏轼同登进士科。神宗朝，为制置三司条例司属官。因反对王安石变法，出为河南推官。哲宗时，召为秘书省校书郎。元祐元年为右司谏，历官御史中丞、尚书右丞、门下侍郎因事忤哲宗及元丰诸臣，出知汝州，贬筠州、再谪雷州安置，移循州。徽宗立，徙永州、岳州复太中大夫，又降居许州，致仕。自号颍滨遗老。卒，谥文定。唐宋八大家之一，与父洵、兄轼齐名，合称三苏。
